Slow Food USA has a cool challenge going on…

I LOVE the reasoning/premise of the Slow Food USA Challenge that happens Sept. 17: it’s a challenge to gather with friends and/or family and cook a meal that costs less than $5 per person.

The idea is that slow food doesn’t have to cost more than fast food – and shouldn’t! There’s no need for it to be that way. I definitely would like to spend more sometimes when we make special things for special dinners at home together, but when you do the math, it won’t take that much work at all to get the average meal down to $5/person.

They also have a cool Tumblr set up for “$5 Tips and Tricks.” I am so on this!
