This weekend

This weekend has been a busy one. It’s s good friend’s birthday, so we made a fancy cake. It’s also the last weekend of apple season, so we drove out to Albeke Farms in Oregon City to pick our own Braeburn apples. And I made a bread type that I’ve never made before: English muffins! I’m excited to write about them later this week.

In the meantime, I’m excited to find all kinds of uses for apples in the coming weeks. My friend Ellen is going to share an apple turnover recipe that I’m really excited to try. I’m also on the lookout for a homemade applesauce recipe.

It’s also a goal of mine to make a few pizza and pie crusts for the coming weeks. I also am planning a baby shower! One of my good friends is about 6 months along and I am hosting her shower and doing the food! This week I intend to turn my current menu (is 7 kinds of cookies too many?) into a firm plan and make what I can ahead of time.

Do you have any recommendations for apple recipes or shower treats?

  1. I think a creamy apple butter would be great with your English muffins!
