Grilled Succotash with Pesto
I'm not quite ready for summer to end!
Welcome to the first garden update in many months! Thank God it is finally spring.
For most of the past week, I had my friend-since-we-were-approximately-15 Mary here to visit. Hi, Mary! It was just awesome to have her here to chat with, to get overly competitive in Ticket to Ride with, and to have other dorky fun with in person. While Mary was here, we did many projects like sew aprons. Voila:
Mary also was conscripted to help us work in the garden a little bit. (Thanks, Mary!) We started by planting seeds in the above tiny pots. Hopefully soon they will be tiny tomato, pepper and herb plants.
Sunday was so beautiful that we spent much of the day outside, and turned over and added soil to our raised beds:
I also found a few fun surprises in the flower beds we cleared of debris a few weeks ago:
And, the beautiful bush that is outside my living room window has begun to bloom. Does anyone know what this is? I am kind of in love.
All I can say is, I can’t wait until it’s light until even later and I can spend my first few moments at home each evening caring for the garden again. I just found it so calming and lovely to care for our plants. This year we will do a few things differently, but the idea to learn is still the same.
