Summer has finally come in Portland – we still have some clouds in the morning but by early afternoon they burn off and the bright blue skies make for a sunny afternoon (and evening – in the summer here, it doesn’t get fully dark until almost 10:30).
That means that we now can be outside all the time. Which is pretty much the reason people move to Oregon.
I’m excited to be entertaining in our backyard this year. My husband rebuilt our picnic table so the benches are much sturdier. Our garden looks great. Everything is lush and green and ready to be enjoyed!
So we are getting ready, and I’ve been creating fun popcorn recipes for an outdoor movie night!
This summer, IZZE and Redbox are working together to make backyard movie nights happen for everyone! You can get a free Redbox rental inside of IZZE 4-packs at Safeway stores in select markets (Portland, Oregon is one of them!!). Check it out! I’m so excited to be partnering with them on this post!
OK, so we love popcorn in our house. We make it on the stove with coconut oil, and then we season it with a different recipe every time.
It’s so fun! Here are the three recipes I have come up with that I think would go great for an outdoor movie night (paired with IZZE’s fun sparkling juice, of course):
- Sriracha and butter: Toss the popcorn with a few teaspoons of sriracha, THEN drizzle with melted butter and salt. Butter and sriracha do not mix together evenly (trust me, I tried!) so make sure to add them one at a time, with the sriracha first.
- Parmesan and garlic: This is one of my favorites. Season popcorn with freshly grated Parmesan and garlic salt.
- My personal favorite, olive oil, sea salt and black pepper. That’s freshly cracked black pepper, mind you. The other stuff won’t do. This is also a job for your fanciest olive oil. On such a simple snack, it’s a perfect canvas for your best olive oil to shine.
What do you love to put on your popcorn? Tell me in the comments!
