A Fall Weekend Full of Projects

A couple of days ago it happened. We woke up and it was rainy and 60 degrees. It got dark at 7:30 instead of the 10 p.m. we’ve been used to. It was fall.

So this weekend, we began lots of fall preparation. We had our seasonal clothes purge. We boxed up all of our plaid shorts, prints, and pulled out our sweaters and boots. We made care packages for our siblings. We bought plane tickets home for the holidays.  We even made chili! If I had my head on straight I would have taken photos and written about it, but Dave made the chili and I wasn’t feeling super well. Until I had his amazing chili.

I also made cookies, caramels and these:

I may have mentioned that I recently discovered Grape Nuts thanks to my friend’s mom coming to town and extolling their virtues.  Dave apparently has been a long-time fan and agreed with her. Anywho, we’ve gone through two boxes since then and bought another to at Target this weekend. And we also decided to make the peanut butter/Grape Nuts bar recipe on the back of the box. They are awesome. /Geekout.

I am so excited for fall. We can eat soup again, guys! And make things with squash and pumpkins! We have birthdays and parents visiting and holidays home to look forward to.

  1. Whoa, whoa, whoa. I have been an evangelist of the virtues of Grape Nuts long before Mama Rubins came to town. These bars were good. Mmm. I hope there’s some left tonight.

  2. I don’t recall, but I’m sure you’re right 🙂 It was the enthusiasm that got me when you guys were talking… and now I’m hooked.
