Hello everyone, and happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I hope you’re all having a great time with family this weekend.

We spent hours cooking delicious food yesterday, and they will certainly make it onto the blog, but today I wanted to post about planning a baby shower menu because I had never done one before. Perhaps this is odd timing, but oh well. I’m still pretty new at this whole blog thing.

We had about 12 girls come to the shower and I definitely made too much food. The girls who took care of the decorations, flowers and paper goods did a totally amazing job. Here’s what our spread looked like:

Here’s what the menu included:

  • The sesame cocktail cookies from a post earlier this week
  • Cake pops
  • Lemon bars
  • A hummus plate and olives
  • Miniature quiches
  • Candy
  • Mimosas

I think the menu was pretty well-rounded, but I wish I had more accurately planned the right amount of food. I was especially proud of these mini-quiches:

The crust is a pie crust, and the insides are half milk, half eggs, with some salt, pepper, a heaping tablespoon of pesto and a sprinkle of sharp cheese. I baked them on a heavily nonstick-sprayed pan at 250 for probably 20-25 minutes (monitored closely). ¬†They’re topped with chopped sun-dried tomatoes. I think they had the biggest success rate of the food at the shower.

In case you’re wondering, this is more veggies and pita than 12 girls will eat. Haha.

Most importantly, I think the mom-to-be had a good time. I don’t think this is the last time I’ll be throwing a shower in general, but for a first time I think the planning went pretty well.

  1. The spread looks great! I especially like the cake pops without the sticks. Good job!!!

  2. Thanks! The no-stick thing was an accident… I opened the drawer and realized I had 5 left… oops!
