If you’re in the Portland area, chances are you’ve heard about a little festival in town this week. And by “little,” I mean that it is TAKING OVER PORTLAND in the best way possible.

I’m talking about Feast Portland, a new food festival sponsored by Travel Oregon, Bon Appetit and many more. It starts tomorrow and it is going to be huge! Chefs from across the US and even a few foreign countries are coming by to do special chef dinners, huge events such as a “Sandwich Invitational” (I AM SO THERE), an Oregon Grand Bounty Tasting, a speaker series and master classes on various foods, drinks and techniques. AND, one of the most exciting things for me is that Mark Bittman is speaking! You may have heard me recommend his cookbooks once or eight times. I am thinking about asking him to sign my copy of “How to Cook Everything Vegetarian,” but it is SO gross from being well used :)

I stopped by Pioneer Square on my way to pick up my Feast Media Pass today, and they are busy little bees turning the location into a wine, food and beerstravaganza.

This is the view from the hospitality suite! Not bad – it’s on the top floor of a hotel downtown.

I stopped in about 20 minutes before they closed up shop to grab my press pass and my gift bag. And luckily, it was enough time to have a delicious glass of Oregon Pinot Noir.

Looks like they are somewhat prepared – but guys, I’m not sure if this will be enough! Haha :)

I had the pleasure of making friends with Judianne of Travel Oregon. She gave my Feast Portland gift bag and talked to me a little about the event! SPEAKING OF,

Yeah, I will be playing with this stuff for a long time. THANKS, guys! :) Food bloggers get a lot of swag. The best way to our hearts is a) samples or b) things we might actually use! I have SO many of those reusable shopping bags. Kudos to Feast for going a different route. I’m also loving the mug and the corkscrew!

I have to say, this is an excellent way to do a press kit:

So, as you can see, my Feast Portland experience is off to a very good start. I’ll be attending three events tomorrow and blogging about them ASAP, so stay tuned. It’s going to be a wild ride and a wonderful event.

Great Coffee at Home: The Top Five Tips I Learned from Stumptown Roasters

I don’t know about you, but making really good coffee is so important to me.  We have at least three coffee machines, if you count the single cup, the standard drip and the espresso maker. We also have a stovetop espresso pot and a French press. This is more than we need. I am aware […]

And It Was Bountiful! Scenes from Feast Portland’s Oregon Grand Bounty Tasting

The Oregon Grand Bounty Tasting was on Friday and Saturday of last week, and I expected it to be amazing. But it totally exceeded my expectations. There was SO much food, wine, chocolate and coffee (thank goodness!). Many of the head brewers, chefs and wine makers were right there at the table, ready to talk […]

Feast Day One: SO MANY SANDWICHES

Hello! I am back! Sometime yesterday our wireless router finally kicked the bucket. And since I do not have a laptop – I have an iMac and an iPad, and that is usually plenty of gadgets – it can be a problem when the desktop is in one room and your router is in another. […]
