I have been on the move a lot lately. Today I got home from an exhausting but wonderful trip back to Kansas, where I grew up. We celebrated Aaron’s graduation from East High (my youngest brother). We also celebrated my aunt and uncle’s 30th wedding anniversary. It was a week (ish. five days?) filled with joy, but I am glad to be home.

Right now is a time of big transition for my family. There are 2.5 boys home from college (Jacob’s stuff is home, but he is off running the NAIA nationals marathon race). My grandmother was also staying with the family so she could attend the graduation and anniversary festivities. Everyone was busy, all the time, and working really hard. Not a complaint, just an observation. After they all go to Indiana to watch Jacob race, I think things will calm down a little bit. It was so great to see them all.

I also got to spend time with Mary (we visited several excellent Wichita eating establishments) and Richie (brunch! Also he will be in Portland very soon to visit).

The last night of my trip, I made oatmeal cookies for my brothers. We started at about midnight and then ate cookies while watching Phineas and Ferb, which is pretty much awesome. This resulted in me having approximately 3 hours of sleep. I tacked on 3+ more on the planes back home. So worth it!

Today I arrived back in Portland, went to lunch with Dave (yay, Hawaiian Time!) and then promptly fell into a much needed nap/coma. After that I went outside to cut fresh greens and check out the progress in the garden (it’s looking good!). What a great way to regain my balance. I’m hoping that tonight is a nice, fresh dinner with Dave, complete with catching up on some of our favorite shows.

Tomorrow, I run. I will run a great distance. Because in Wichita, there is Spangles. And when Spangles and I are in the same state, there is no keeping us apart. But for now, I am going to rest.
