AI Generates Portlands Crazy Future Appearance In 2200
You may have expected that the cityscape of 2200 Portland, as envisioned by AI, would transcend the boundaries of conventional reality. Gleaming towers would rise skyward, interwoven with cascading vertical gardens that breathe life into the urban tapestry. Futuristic transportation networks glide effortlessly above the bustling streets, harnessing sustainable energy sources and seamlessly connecting the sprawling neighborhoods.
However, if this is what we had hoped for, it seems that AI is still a little off the mark. Mount Hood seems to have grown quite a lot in several images, but the technology of the city is not too promising.
In this image, Mount Hood seems to have grown beyond an Everest type size. The peak now absolutely dwarfs the city of Portland, as do the smaller peaks. A broken down car with a fire shows quite an apocalyptic scene in the background. However, as this was meant to be from the year 2200~, it is quite disappointing that the city still seems to have motor vehicles with standard engines 200 years in to the future.
The city itself also seems to be more urbanized with a larger concentration of buildings. These are higher than current buildings, but also more densely packed together.
This generated image shows two sides to Portland. On the one hand, the city looks as if it has undergone some kind of eco-regeneration. The buildings are still standing, but have not been developed too much in terms of materials or style.
On a positive note, there are still a lot of trees present (if not more than now). This could have happened due to some kind of green-style political agenda which stopped overdevelopment of the city.
However, it does seem as if Mount Hood has transformed into Mount Doom from Lord Of the Rings. A lightning storm is pictured in the background, and rather worringly there is a gigantic plume of smoke emerging from the ground.
The orange skies and streets are reminscent of the Blade Runner 2049 movie. This could be due to a number of factors such as smog or wildfires which are out of control. Either way, Portland does not look like a healthy place to live in terms of ecology – although it should be noted that there are a lot of trees within the city limits.
In terms of architecture, some of the buildings in the background look reasonably advanced, but the rest of the structures are relatively disappointing for a year 2200 prediction.
