Anchorage locals in awe of ‘Gangster’ grocery delivery truck
Recently, this delivery truck was photographed outside of a Safeway store in Anchorage and the locals loved it. This truck was from Germany and looks more like a military convoy truck than something you’d expect to deliver supplies to a grocery chain. Adding to its cool appeal, it also has a world map and compass painted on the side. Due to its suave look, one resident even called it “the most gangster delivery truck you’ll ever see.” And honestly, they’re not wrong!
In fact, these trucks aren’t that uncommon around Alaska, with others being sighted in Valdez and other cities. Thinking about it logically, you may need more fortified delivery trucks in Alaska compared to other US states due to the conditions and roads in the state.
Just looking at the size of the tires, it shows that this truck means business and is built for tough terrain. If you zoom in on the plate, you can also see it has a ‘D’ on the front, which stands for Deutschland, also known as Germany.
Not everyone appreciated the truck though, with one person saying, “They are really cool but I don’t understand bringing them to Alaska just to drive up and down our highways like everyone who lives here does in a clapped out Subaru.” As mentioned however, the reason is probably due to their durability, as German engineered vehicles are usually built to last as well.
So, next time you see one of these, just remember it’s probably delivering food and you’re not in some kind of Mad Max apocalyptic universe.
I’ve seen it around town, there was one like it last year. Looks expensive!
