B-L-A-T Turkey Burgers
I don’t know who the first person was who decided that a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich needed a little avocado, but I really like that person. Don’t get me wrong, a standard BLT is also delicious. But bacon + avocado? That’s hard to beat.
So we thought it would be even more fun to put it all on top of a juicy turkey burger with a fancy roll. Because really, there’s not a lot better than a giant, juicy burger piled high with toppings.
Here’s what you need for two burgers:
About 2/3 lb. ground turkey
Salt and pepper
1 avocado
1 scant tablespoon lime juice
1/2 jalapeno, seeded, pith removed, and diced
3 slices bacon
sliced tomato
lettuce
2 kaiser rolls
Heat a nonstick skillet on medium-high heat with a tablespoon or so of oil. Divide the ground turkey in half and season well with salt and pepper.
Cook the turkey burgers on one side until the bottom is nicely browned. Flip, and continue cooking until the juices from the patty run clear.
Separately, cook the bacon in a skillet or the microwave. Set aside on top of some paper towels and allow the grease to run off a bit.
While the burgers and bacon are cooking, mix up the guacamole by mashing the avocado, lime juice and jalapeno together with a generous pinch of salt. If you like, you can also slice and toast your kaiser rolls while everything finishes cooking.
When the burgers and bacon are done, build your beautiful burger and dive in. I recommend a side of spicy sweet potato fries.
