Baltimore Garbage truck burns to the ground on the 95
Sometimes, you may hear the term ‘dumpster fire’ to describe something horrendous. Yesterday was one of those times in life when this literally happens. Here, a garbage truck literally burned to the ground on the 95 in Baltimore. This wasn’t a few flames either, and the image below shows just how badly damaged the truck was. In fact, it was completely charred to the core.
Thankfully, the fire department was quickly on the scene to put out the flames and the road was temporarily closed for obvious reasons. You can only imagine how badly this truck smelt though as there’s a reason for the aforementioned metaphor.
Seeing the funny side of things, one local wrote online: “It smells like Baltimore”, while another jokingly said, “That’s because 95 in Maryland is a hellscape of hot concrete boredom that goes on FOREVER with no rest stops (well, no REAL ones really).”
On a serious note, garbage truck fires are taken very seriously by fire crews as the source of the fire could come from anywhere. With this said, it’s very possible that this fire was caused by a lithium battery or something that was combined with the heat. This means that potentially, the back of the truck could even explode – which may have been the case here. On a positive note, thankfully the driver and emergency crew all came out of this safe, which may not have happened on another day.
