Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, you’ll have noticed the huge storms in Asheville. These have caused lots of damage, including a tree smashing into someone’s kitchen. However, last night saw Depot Street get flooded to the point the sidewalk was no longer visible.

Due to the sheer amount of water on the road, it almost looked like a huge glossy texture as the water reflected in the street lights. As if this wasn’t enough, one local even claimed that there was a massive whirlpool behind Freshmarket which shows just how crazy the rain has been. On a similar note, it also makes you think about the potential potholes that will come from this.

On a serious note, residents should also be wary of the possible snakes that could have entered the area due to being carried by the water. Not only this but as seen in the above photo, it also makes you wonder about the local residents – as those on the bottom floor may have also had their property damaged in the process. Sadly, it doesn’t look like this area was well barricaded either.

As always with severe weather, make sure you try to stay safe and be sensible. If you see a weather report, then respect it and really, you should stay in doors as much as possible.
