Bizarre poster sees ‘Legendary Sword’ for sale in Portland
Portland is known for its unusual culture and its catchphrase “Keep Portland Weird” isn’t said for nothing. This was recently summed up by a poster on a utility pole that was offering the sale of a ‘Legendary Sword.’ The price of this sword wasn’t discussed in the advert – but an email address was left for those interested.
Although it looked like a joke – you never know with Portland and honestly, it wouldn’t be surprising to see if this was a genuine advert. The poster reads: “For sale – Legendary Sword. It keeps trying to lead me on a noble journey of heroism and quite frankly, I’d rather just stay in bed and do nothing.” This was accompanied by a picture of the longsword next to the seller’s email address, which was appropriately named ‘swordguy626@gmail.com‘
In an interesting turn of events, one Portland resident went as far as to email about the sword and even got a response from the seller. Here, they enquired about the price – whereby the seller replied, “$300 or best offer. I will also consider trades for vintage Shrek memorabilia.”
Depending on your stance on legendary swords, this could be a good or a bad deal. However, it’s not known whether this deal was actually completed or not. While this was most likely a joke, it does also highlight the quirky, humorous side of the city which it is famous for.
