Bizarre scenes as Gas Siphoned from truck in Eagle River

July 10, 2023 by 1 Comment

CCTV footage recently showed two thieves siphoning gas from a truck in the Eagle River part of Anchorage. Here, an older truck was targeted, which saw a device rigged up to the gas tank, which proceeded to remove the gas from the vehicle. Although this is very much a common sight these days, this sort of thing was relatively common in the USA during previous decades. However, since then – most cars have been fitted with anti-siphoning technology.

This makes sense, considering the truck that got robbed was a 1994 release which is years before most of the cars became harder to steal from. As seen, the truck also had its doors opened whereby the thieves proceeded to ransack it in order to find goods.

This incident took place in the Heritage Court area at 3:27 AM, and unfortunately, the footage provided doesn’t really offer much in identifying the two individuals at large. Here, one looks like a blonde-haired woman, while the other is a man. Online, some people also assumed they were homeless due to the desperation of the crime which would make sense.

As a result, if you do have an older car in this area, it’s probably best to keep it locked up, especially at nice. If this isn’t possible, then you can buy tools to make siphoning more difficult. In fairness to the victim here, you don’t really expect that sort of thing to go on in this day and age though.
