Boise locals SHOCKED as blistering heat causes hot spring on the sidewalk
Whilst Boise is actually situated near hot springs, something pretty incredible was caught on camera yesterday. This can best be described as an ‘urban hot spring’ which occurred on the sidewalk of a Boise street. Here, the camera showed hot smoke rising up from the concrete – in something that looked straight out of a sci-fi movie.
It’s fair to say that the weather in the US has been a bit wild lately with El Nino visiting, and this may have affected the local temperatures in Boise. Even still, this isn’t your everyday occurrence and shows how the environment can be so volatile at times.
So, why did this happen? For those wondering, this wasn’t some kind of bizarre act of God. Instead, it looks as though the smoke protrudes from a small crack between the sidewalk and the road. If you look closely, there seems to be a hole where the smoke comes from. This could be from poor construction, or created by the pressure of the heat from under the ground.
One local labelled it “The Boise Geyser”, whilst another jokingly proclaimed that this was “My favorite spot.” Sadly, there are no natural hot springs in Boise, however if you go further out to other areas of Idaho then they can be found in the wild. And thankfully, they’re a lot more scenic than this one!
