Boston Green Line Extension Community Path finally opens
Bostons Green Line Extension Community Path finally opened this week and was happily received by locals. This path is 1.9 miles in length and runs parallel with Medford and Tufts. As seen by some of the photos, it has also been put to good use as well, with a mixture of cyclists, walkers, and even rollerbladers using it to their advantage.
Interestingly, this path was originally planned to be completed in 2021, but was the subject of various delays which pushed it back a few years. Overall, this sort of stuff is fairly commonplace with public buildings, as they often take longer than expected. Nonetheless, it looks as though this was worth the wait and there’s not much better than seeing locals getting some exercise in the sun.
Speaking of locals, they also had their own say on social media, and one Boston local said, “We need so much more of this in Massachusetts!” Whilst another claimed, “It means I can get into Boston with so few interactions with cars. There is a bit of an annoying hill between Lechmere and East Somerville and the curb cut at Gilman Square/School Street is just terrible/wrong, but it’s so peaceful away from cars.”
In fact, in a rare feat – it seemed that no one was against this which shows just how popular the path is. As you may expect, this also prompted people to speculate about more public paths within the Boston area, which may help locals both in terms of transport efficiency, exercise, and community spirit.
