Can YOU explain this weird Futurama ‘Grave’ found in Baltimore woods?

This week, a strange video surfaced that showed someone roaming around the woods in the Oella area of Baltimore. While walking, they stumbled upon a gravestone that was accompanied by a freshly laid bunch of flowers. The gravestone read, “Philip Fry – The Original Martian. Here lies Philip. J. Fry, named for his uncle to carry on his spirit.”

For anyone unaware of this reference, Philip. J. Fry was the main character in the TV show Futurama, which was made by Matt Groening of The Simpsons fame. Understandably, it’s a little odd that this was found in a fairly random location in Baltimore as the show has no connection with the city.

What’s even stranger is that technically, Philip. J. Fry wasn’t technically a Martian either, as he lived in New York. So far, there are two leading theories. The first is that this was done as some kind of fan tribute by someone that happened to live in the area. Here, they chose a fairly innocuous location and maybe it was done out of personal use.

Secondly, it could have been someone who was genuinely named Philip. J. Fry that died and this was some kind of personal, in-joke-style tribute to them – and that it was a genuine grave. Overall, this finding brings up more questions than answers and is definitely quite odd. Furthermore, there’s no reference to this online which means that for now, this is curiously unsolved and may continue to be so into the future.
