Can YOU help identify this Anchorage camera thief?
Yesterday, an Anchorage man allegedly stole a security camera from a local business. During this process, the camera literally recorded a close-up of the culprit’s face, before being taken. As seen in the image below, this man did this with his friend sitting down next to him. The car in the photo was also driven by the thief, meaning it was a premeditated robbery.
Bizarrely, a used security camera isn’t exactly worth a whole lot of money to resell. This begs the question of why someone would want to choose a security camera with the effort of scoping out the neighborhood in the process.
Not only this, but sadly the truck looked pretty expensive too, so this doesn’t look like a crime out of necessity either and stinks of greed. Speaking of the vehicle, this has a distinct look, with a black hood and red doors. This means it may be easier to identify the truck if you see it out and about. Unfortunately, however, the victim did not manage to get an ID for the plates. This man has been described as white, fairly tall and around 50 years old, with a small beard.
Overall, this isn’t the smartest of crimes either – by stealing the camera, you’re giving it a good shot of your face as a result. And, he also chose to use a very noticeable vehicle as well. Clearly, brain cells were missing with this alleged thief.
He hangs out in mountain view iv seen the truck a lot over there
Maybe he’s getting rid of the camera to keep other future illegal activities from being recorded.
