Charleston posthumously celebrates legendary cop Reuben Greenberg’s 80th birthday
Today would have been Reuben Greenberg’s 80th birthday and this hasn’t gone unnoticed within the Charleston community. Despite being dead for a few years now, his impact still lives on – and for good reason, as this man did so much in his lifetime for the city.
Greenberg was the former police chief of Charleston, South Carolina. He served as the chief of police for the Charleston Police Department from 1982 to 2005. Reuben Greenberg was widely loved and respected within the community for several reasons.
Perhaps the biggest impact Greenberg made was based on ‘Community Policing’. Greenberg was a strong advocate for community policing where He believed in building strong relationships between the police department and the community it served.
