Connecticut Driver Named & Shamed after hit and run

July 2, 2023 by 8 Comments

A Connecticut driver was recently named and shamed after causing damage to a parked car, before brazenly driving off. According to the victim, the culprit slammed their door into the side of the victim’s car, leaving a noticeable mark. When confronted about it, the culprit then said: “What do you want me to do? I had to get in. Sorry” before carelessly driving off and refusing to give out his insurance details. Sadly, this means that it’s his word against the alleged victim – which means that justice is unlikely to be served.

There is some potentially good news though, as this happened in the Southington ShopRite car park. So, there is still hope that CCTV could catch the culprit. Unfortunately though, the victim claimed their car was possibly out of range of the cameras.

Ironically, the alleged culprit’s car looked pretty spotless without a scratch in sight. If you look closer, it’s even more ironic as there are also cop cars that are situated behind the culprit’s car. This also begs the question why didn’t the victim get them involved though?

One Connecticut resident had this to say on the matter, which seemed like the most sensible option: “These days do not argue with the other driver. Just call the police for the report with the person insurance on it. File with their insurance only if they at fault on the report or else let your insurance fight it.”

As ever, the Jeep has done larger cars no favors and shows that some people just don’t car, which is a sad reality of the world we currently live in.

Same thing happened to me in the Moe’s / tjmaxx parking lot in Bristol, when I just bought my brand new Jeep but some guy in a silver truck who I also had pictured his plate as he carelessly drove off. I still have the worst scratch about 4 inches in length and 1 inch wide on my jeep passenger door , nothing you can do about it when local cops Bristol and southington are TOTALLY useless.

My car looks like it’s been run through the gauntlet, dings, scratch’s and of course I the one will gently open the door and slink out. Not to damage anyone else’s car.

I carry a vinegar spray on both my person and in the car door pocket on driver’s side. Be prepared for an assault and battery charge if someone only dents your car but I bet it will be dismissed or treated as an infraction.

This happened to me with my brand new Land Rover and I went to my local dent repair company. D Dents in Danbury were super helpful and saved me from having to get my car repainted at a body shop. I never found the culprit (no shocker there) but they guided me through the steps and helped me get a claim through insurance since it was considered vandalism. It’s so sad that people don’t care to leave even a note anymore. What has the world come to?
