Downtown Detroit sees MORE pop-up license plate scanners installed
Back in May, the Detroit Police Department asked for 100 license plate scanners to be dotted around the city. This idea drew backlash from the public at the time, as the police had already upped the number of surveillance scanners over recent years. However, some believed that an extra 100 was too much and impacted personal freedoms and human rights.
Well, it looks as though this may be a sign of things to come. Just yesterday, a pop-up scanner was photographed in downtown Detroit which was monitoring thousands of car license plates. Unsurprisingly, this move garnered even more anger from locals.
Not only this but recently more of these were also placed in the Detroit metro area too. Speaking on the issue, one local wrote, “Looks like a good target for paintball pot shots” while another said, “Be a shame if anything were to happen to them. A real shame.” As you can see from these comments, some people were not happy about this.
However, not everyone saw it this way – with one proclaiming, “Good. People without insurance love driving like they have full coverage and a backup car in the garage.” Overall, this shows the ongoing debate in Detroit – which is a battle between personal liberties against those committing fraud and avoiding license plate fees. With this in mind, what do you think? Let us know in the comments.
That is stupid especially when high class leadership do not have insurance or license. Insurance is higher than your car note. I’m moving anyways because Detroit leaders are GREEDY and do not want you to achieve more than them or they don’t know and just have a title.
Here’s an idea! If you have no tickets for the current year, there’s no fees to renew your tags!!!
