Fancy living on the water? Check out this quirky Portland water house
As mentioned earlier this week, the average price of a house in Portland is not cheap. In fact, it’s significantly higher than the average price of your typical American home. So, if you’re desperate to buy somewhere in PDX, then you may have to get creative and think outside of the box.
This is where this property comes in. Located along the Columbia river, this water house is priced at $75,000. In other words, it’s very much affordable. While some may view it as a floating trailer park home on the water, the reality is that it’s actually in a decent neighborhood that is pretty quiet, whilst also having scenic views of the waterfront.
Furthermore, you may have some negotiation power when buying this. Last year it was previously listed at $99,000 and has had two price drops since then, so there may be some wriggle room on this quirky property.
Looking at the inside, its decor does look dated, but it’s also surprisingly spacious and even has a water-garage for small boats and jet skis. In fact, this would also make a great second home for someone who likes the water and could easily be turned into a beautiful property. Aside from a little TLC, this house does have a $650 monthly HOA fee which may be a little off-putting for some. Nonetheless, it truly does have great potential and offers something different if you’re struggling to buy a place among Portland’s ever-growing housing market.
