Florida woman charged with DUI after driving car on beach & getting caught in the sea

When you visit Smyrna Dunes Park, you may assume that you’re going to have a nice chilled family day out. However, sometimes life can throw you a curve ball. This is what happened to several families recently whilst trying to enjoy the beach.

Here, a 26 year old woman was found driving under the influence on the sand. Eventually, her car got stuck in the water and at this point, someone had called the cops. Thankfully no one was hurt, but she could have easily hit someone which could have been tragic. So, despite this story being a bit quirky, it could have been much more serious and shows that drink driving is unsafe everywhere – including on beaches too.

Located in Daytona Beach, Florida, she was also charged with dangerous driving too. It is assumed that the car was also written off too – which adds further consequences to her reckless behavior. When the police arrived, one passerby claimed “We’re just some of the people they almost killed, like this little girl.”

When asked by the police, the suspect replied, “I’m not sure, I was the driver and they kind of stopped us and said we almost hit a child, I didn’t think that we did. I’m so sorry, we were driving from New Smyrna and we got over here and were just trying to turn around.”

Despite pleading her ignorance, this was not enough to evade being charged. If nothing else, this serves as a cautionary tale to never get behind the wheel when under the influence.
