Harvard Art Museum announces FREE entry for all
When it comes to art museums, Harvard is arguably one of the best in the country. This is because it’s home to work by the likes of Monet, Van Gogh, and Jackson Pollock amongst others. However, historically the Harvard Art Museum was only free for students at the university. More recently, it did open freely at certain times – but generally most people would have to pay for entry. In fairness, this isn’t too unfair considering the quality of art that was on display.
Thankfully though, the museum recently announced a change in policy – which means that Harvard Art Museum is now free entry for everyone. Yes, you read that correctly. Speaking on the recent changes, director of the Harvard Art Museums, Martha Tedeschi recently said “We just want people to be able to come and not have to think about how they get in.”
Understandably, this move has been welcomed by Cambridge locals which proves that sometimes in life, there is such thing as a free meal.
According to research, Harvard University is literally the wealthiest college in the world, and has a $50.9 billion endowment as of 2022. With this in mind, making the museum free isn’t too surprising. Even still, it’s a classy touch in 2023, when financially people are getting hit harder than ever.
Cambridge locals took to social media to celebrate, with one branding it “An absolutely huge win!” with others in agreement, saying, “Awesome. I really enjoy the organization of the Harvard Art Museum and information they include about the periods and the moods of those periods. It’s like a little art history class. Worth visiting if you haven’t been recently.”
Based on this, if you’re ever in the area then check it out. As mentioned, it truly is a top class art museum and as it’s now free, there really is no excuse not to check it out!
