HUGE Security Queue Photographed at Austin Airport
Yesterday, a picture went viral for all the wrong reasons. This was a photograph of a massive queue that was located in ABIA (Austin-Bergstrom International Airport). As seen below, this did not look like a fun sight for anyone involved. Not only was it nighttime, but the end of the queue was literally out of sight. Unfortunately, locals were quick to criticize ABIA for its issues over the years. However, there may be a reason why this is the case.
So, what is this all about then? according to one local, it was based on the time of day – which was why ABIA could be so inconsistent. They said, “Do you usually fly out in the afternoons? I only ever have issues with security when my flight is before 9am. Afternoons and it’s 10 minutes or less.”
However, one local chimed in with a bit of a conspiracy theory, adding “For some reason TSA wants everyone to go to the main security line even though they have 4 security lines. It’s like when they get busy they all just default to tell you to go to line 1, even when the other lines are half full. Because of that, lines get really long. And it helps then sell clear passes aka the convenience tax.”
Honestly speaking, this seems a bit of a stretch. Nonetheless, irrespective of theories – it seems that ABIA need to get their act together and make their queues a bit more efficient.
