If you’re from Chicago – Then the chances are you’ve seen this STRANGE man
Lately, a picture emerged showing a man riding a large, modified bicycle. We believe that this is technically a bicycle as it has two wheels but it almost looks like a British Pennyfarthing bike from the Victorian era. This was photographed by the Eisenberg hotdog restaurant.
Interestingly, this man has been a staple in Chicago for decades – with sightings of him going back as far as over 15 years ago. With this being said, it’s good to see that he’s still out and about doing his thing – as locals were a little worried at one point after his possible hiatus.
What’s more impressive than his years of dedication is the actual mechanics behind his bike. If you zoom in closely, you can see that it’s a regular bike that has been modified to add a lot of height. This looks to be held together by black tape which looks a bit precarious. However, it can’t be as this guy has been riding around Chicago for years and clearly knows what he’s doing.
According to legend, this man is also known as ‘Rat Patrol’ who takes pride in modifying bikes out of scrap metal. One local even said: “I see this dude all the time and the exact same thoughts go through my head every time: I just wanna see how he gets on and off of that bike. What if he hits a pothole?”
These are some of the many questions that have been posed over the years – which highlight the mystery surrounding one of Chicago’s biggest characters.
I saw this guy last week riding eastbound on Madison at Kedzie and I was puzzled because I couldn’t figure out how he even managed to get on the contraption, let alone how to even pedal the thingamajig
