If you’re in Syracuse BEWARE of this ‘Nurse’ Scammer

The exposure of a Syracuse scammer has recently been doing the rounds on social media. Here, someone mentioned being scammed by a woman pretending to be a nurse near Marshall St. The scam goes that the culprit asked them for $60 to help her patient get home as she ran out of gas. Apparently, the scammer is a middle-aged woman who wears grey scrubs and carries lots of bags on her.

Now, although this was a recent event, it turns out that the victim’s story got a lot of people talking. It turns out that this woman is a serial scammer who has been doing the same grift in the same area for many years.

Speaking on the scammer, one local had this to say, “Yeah, she’s been around forever with her same story. I’ve also heard of an instance where she had an accomplice that helped her rob someone after they gave her a ride. Sad, it happens that people get scammed, but she’s certainly not a new occurrence. Thanks for reminding people, and new members of the sub that she’s out there!” while another gave a similar story adding, “She tried the same with me over the winter. The story must be working out well for her.”

In fact, some of the stories dated back to 2012, so it’s been going on for a long time. Not only this – but sometimes, people even got robbed by a group after giving her a lift – so it’s very possible that this may be the second part of the con.

Overall, this is a sad story to report on. Sadly, people have used the authority and status of certain jobs to scam people forever. In short, it’s fine to be charitable but if you’re in this area then make sure to have your wits about you and stay wary if a nurse approaches you for money.
