Indianapolis Jimmy Johns sign berates ongoing construction outside premises
At this point, it’s almost become an ongoing joke that some of the construction in central Indianapolis is taking so long. In fact, it’s not just locals who have noticed this either. In a (not so) subtle dig at the road works, the Broad Ripple Jimmy Johns restaurant used its sign to point this out and voice their frustrations.
Whilst this was clearly a lighthearted dig at the ongoing construction, it also showed the reality of the construction and how it could be negatively affecting their business. It goes without saying that if your premises is constantly blocked by fences and barricades then it’s not going to be a positive thing!
Usually, these signs are used to advertise food or opening times. However, this one reads, “I thought they were just filling potholes. Anyway, we’re pretty sure it’s all summer long.” The sign isn’t wrong either. According to the Indy gov website, this work is due to finish in the summer of 2023, after being ongoing for the past year. This means there will still be a few months left of work taking us into the summer.
On a more serious note, the Broad Ripple area has been infamously bad for ongoing construction and has built a reputation over the years for its constant obstruction of the city streets. Because of this, Indianapolis residents have half-jokingly proclaimed that shortly after this part of the construction is finished, something new in the area will begin. Watch this space.
The only thing as maddening is all these construction sites with no one working in them . And all the torn up street surrounding the portion of the construction that have done !
Too bad y’all can’t hang zip lines or ski lifts thru there!
