Indy Locals Surprised Roots Burger Bar Closes down
Today saw some unfortunate news as far as the Indianapolis restaurant industry is concerned. This is because the popular burger spot Roots Burger Bar announced that it had permanently closed its doors for good. This was seen with a flyer on the window of the premises which read “Dear loyal Roots guests, unfortunately, this location for Roots Burger Bar will be permanently closed as of today. We have appreciated your support for the past 2 years.”
Cutting to the chase, the statement ultimately blamed inflation and “A difficult labor market” behind the reasons for its closure. This comes after just two years of its opening and proves that running a successful Indianapolis restaurant can be a difficult nut to crack.
For those wondering, this was the Allisonville location. As also mentioned in the statement, the owner Scott Wise still has a couple of other restaurants open in the city and wished customers “A healthy and happy rest of your summer.”
Speaking on the closure, one Indy resident claimed, “That’s a tricky area. You could drive by there and not even know a restaurant was there. Also, I’m pretty sure they still had the sign for the Mexican place hanging up by the road. That just wasn’t a good location for a restaurant.” while another added, “That sucks. I was happy to see something go in that spot, but frankly, I’m not terribly surprised. The burgers themselves weren’t as good as Steak n Shake half a block away at half the price. I’m also pretty sick of everyone doing Smash Burgers. Blind Owl used to have real burgers, now all they do are smash.”
It goes without saying that if anyone can make a successful eatery in the area, it’s Scott Wise. With this in mind, hopefully his other ventures go well and something new and exciting takes up the previous spot for the Roots Allisonville location.
