A photo recently went viral for being the most confusing road sign in the entirety of Pittsburgh. After you see the photo in question, you’ll quickly understand why this is the case. In fact, it would be difficult for a sign to rival this in terms of complexity and stuff going on. By this, we don’t just mean in Pittsburgh either – we mean nationwide.

As seen below, this is a combination of signs that reads “PPG Paints Arena, Truck Detour, Armstrong Tunnel, Detour, Liberty Bridge, and Detour.” To make matters even more puzzling, the detour signs show different destinations. You can only imagine approaching this in a car doing 20 MPH and trying to quickly make a decision. In other words, this was the opposite of what signs are meant to do in terms of giving simple instructions.

Now, just when you thought it was as confusing as it could possibly get, we have more news for you. If you look around 5-10 meters into the background, there are yet even more signs. In other words, the chaos doesn’t end there!

Locals made light of the situation though and saw the funny side, commenting “It’s not a Pittsburgh driving experience if you aren’t making at least 3 wrong turns” another added, “In this city, it’s more like Moses that takes the wheel. That’s why we always loose 40 minutes that feel like 40 years wandering the maze of one way streets.”

So, if ever you find yourself lost and confused in the Pittsburgh city center then don’t worry. You’re not alone, you won’t be the first, and you won’t be the last either.
