Is This The Most DANGEROUS Driver In Portland?
Portland is well known for having unique and crazy cars. To be honest, these vehicles are pretty cool in general and add character to the city. Many people will know of someone who has an individualized one of a kind car which hasn’t been replicated by anyone else. Whilst this may not be to the taste of everyone, we can at least accept it as being unique.
However, this driver is a little different. The Mercedes they are dirving looks pretty old, but this is certainly not where the problems begin. As you can see, the car is missing two doors, meaning that if you were to get hit from this side, there would be very limited protection from chunks of metal, plastic and glass which could easily enter the vehicle.
Perhaps most alarming is that the man is driving with a gigantic crack on the drivers side of the windscreen. Driving with this on the passengers side would be bad enough, but there is no way he can see clearly through this spiderweb of shards.
Strangely enough, if you look closely behind the passengers seat, you will see an industrial sized bottle of what seems to be Rain-X. Anyone who has used this product before will know that it is used to improve visibility in wet weather. However, it is extremely doubtful that it would allow you to see through such a badly cracked windscreen.
For those wondering:
The city of Portland requires that windshields be in good condition without cracks that obstruct the driver’s view. Driving with a cracked windscreen can be considered a violation of Oregon Revised Statute 815.280, which states that windshields must be free from any defects that impair the driver’s clear view of the road.
The specific penalties for driving with a cracked windscreen can vary depending on the severity of the crack and the discretion of law enforcement officers. In general, if a crack impairs the driver’s vision or poses a safety risk, it could result in a traffic citation, fines, or even vehicle inspection requirements.
However it is LEGAL to drive in the state of Oregon without a windshield so long as you have windshield wipers.
