Labeled as ‘Detroits best kept secret’ – this bar is the PERFECT chillout area
When it comes to drinking and hanging out in a chilled environment, Detroit has a few places on offer. Recently though, locals have been raving about Trixie’s Bar which is located on Carpenter Ave. In fact, it seems that almost everyone who mentions it seems to have only good things to say about it – so, why is this?
Firstly, it offers a weekly karaoke night that takes place from 10PM-2AM. This may not be for everyone due to the time of week but if you can get down then, then you’ll be in for a blast. And let’s face it, Sundays can be quite monotonous a lot of the time anyway. Secondly, this has regular slots for local bands, free pool nights on Mondays, and perhaps most importantly – cheap beer! As seen below, this comes in the form of cans for some reason.
Aesthetically, this also passes the vibe check with a blend of relaxed lighting, foliage, and quirky street signs that are located in the trendy beer garden. However, without sounding cliche, it’s the people that make it. Undoubtedly, there are some venues in Detroit that have a bad atmosphere – but this is the complete opposite and it’s filled with friendly faces.
Despite, this, if you look at it from the outside – it actually looks like a pretty mundane building from the front as it almost blends in with its suburban surroundings. So, if you’re in the Hamtramck then check it out, you’ll probably enjoy yourself.
