Legendary singer John Mellencamp releases Video for Eyes Of Portland song based on the homeless population
A couple of days ago, legendary singer John Mellencamp released the official lyric video for his latest single, “Eyes Of Portland”. This song pays homage to the city of Portland, despite the fact that Mellencamp is originally from Indiana. Clearly though, Portland has a close place in Mellencamp’s heart and he has strong feelings for it.
This song shows the people and streets of Portland, and it seems as though a big part of it is based on the current homeless population. Here, Mellencamp uses lyrics such as “As I saw through the eyes of Portland one day. There were so many homeless, they’d all gone astray. They slept on the corners during the day. As not to be harmed when the sun went away”
In fact, most of the song lyrics are based on trying to care more for the homeless population. Based on the Youtube comments, this song seems well received, with one of the comments adding, “John thank you for shedding light on this problem. People need to listen and wake up this crisis is growing and needs more attention than it’s getting.”
