Mail Theft Shocks San Antonio Neighborhood
Today, shocked San Antonio residents woke up to notice their mailboxes had been broken into. This was a targeted attack with many boxes broken into – which means that the perpetrator clearly knew what they were doing.
This incident took place in NW SATX near Prue and according to the person that took the photo, they had a credit card stolen that was used at various local ATM machines. Responding to this story, residents claimed that there wouldn’t be too much to steal from. However, based on the story above – this crime was clearly profitable. Not to forget, many of the older generation still get social security checks in the mail.
Apparently, this area doesn’t have the best of reputations either, with one person commenting, “I used to live down the street from those apartments at the Axio – when I say that place was a third world country, I mean it.” While others had seen similar incidents of broken mailboxes around the same area.
Arguably, one of the best ways to counter mail theft is to sign up for Informed Delivery with USPS. This service works by getting an email alert that says when your delivery will be made. Therefore, you can intercept the mail before someone else does. On a final note, this shows the depravity that some people will sink to for a quick buck. Thankfully though, San Antonio mail theft remains quite rare for the most part.
Rare? It was almost a daily thing in Northern hills when I lived there. What a joke
Rare??? Not in our GATED subdivision. We get hit regularly and the BCSO claims its the mail carrier who is leaving the boxes unlocked.
