MASSIVE Car Crash sees St. Petersburg man crawl out of upside-down vehicle

July 4, 2023 by 10 Comments

Yesterday saw one of the biggest car crashes you’ll likely witness this year in St. Petersburg, Florida. This occurred mid-day and saw two vehicles combine in the middle of the road. We’re not sure how this happened, but judging by the water trail left by the one car, it seemed to occur when going round a bend.

This led to the one car completely flipping upside down, and if you look – you can see the driver crawling out of the door. The other car didn’t look too good either, and had a massive dent in the side due to the collision. Such was the ferocity of the crash, it made various locals stop and look on in awe at the destruction.

This occurred on 1st Ave N/ 16th St N and although no one died, you’d expect there to be some injuries involved (barring a minor miracle). In the second photo, you can actually see the man who crawled out of their seat sitting down, so hopefully he was ok too.

However, not everyone was so forgiving – with one local saying this on social media: “Yes, people drive like idiots around here for sure. Also, the number of people I see walking against traffic signals in and out of crosswalks is bananas! Not to mention the scooters and E-vehicles that drive like zero laws apply to them is unbelievable. I’m actually surprised that more serious accidents aren’t happening at a greater pace.”

As mentioned though, it’s a good thing that there were no fatalities. However, this may have been down to luck more than skill. As always, drive safe and be aware on the roads.

Do not lump all scooter drivers together I for one have a scooter and always go on the cross walks with the lights

You’re an idiot. Scooters don’t belong on roadways and yes we can lump them because the majority are idiots.

people who do drugs or drinking need to not be on road

Quite a few sober people don’t need to be on the road either!

Exactly. I’d bet most of the pedestrian fatalities are from jaywalking; crossing in the middle of the street or against the light. I live at Beach and 5th and see this constantly. The scooters (not moored type scooters ), etc are so problematic and should be eradicated. Add to that, people speeding, texting etc.. it IS a wonder there aren’t more deaths.

If Pinellas county had st least descent public transport, and If ride shares were affordable and dependable. Perhaps , more people would b off the street . One has to have transportation in order to survive. However, as the population grows in an already densely populated area . We will see more deadly accidents

The City of Saint Petersburg Police Dept., definitely needs to look into pedestrians, electric vehicles and especially BICYCLISTS in the area of downtown to Treasure Island between 1st St N; Central Ave and 1st Street S. These people DO NOT think the laws of being on the road apply to them at all – especially BICYCLISTS!!! I can’t tell you how many times I see these people run lights and take stop signs like the road signs do not apply to them all because it would interrupt their “workout”.

I doubt that the water trail had anything to do with going around a corner. I’d guess the water from the radiator leaked out of the car. The water comes out of the radiator and it follows gravity over the crown of the road to the storm drain on the corner.
