MASSIVE fire breaks out on H St. NE between 13th and 14th
Today, around lunchtime a massive fire broke out on H St. NE between 13th and 14th in Washington, DC. Such was the size of the fire, that its flames and smoke could be seen from miles away. This took place opposite Atlas, and as seen, the fire crew was quick on the scene. In fairness, the fire crew needed to be quick too due to the sheer size of the thing.
Due to the recent timing of the fire, it’s not known what the cause is, or which particular building it started from. However, it’s very possible that it came from the 1368 building which is currently empty. This would also make logical sense, seeing as there would be no one around to quickly put out the fire, resulting in a quicker spread.
Despite the size of the fire, there have been no reported injuries or fatalities – so it looks like it could have been a lot worse. Nonetheless, it’s not nice if you’re in the area or work in a nearby building to see this. Similarly, you can’t imagine the landlord will be too happy with their building either.
Although Washington isn’t the hottest city in the country, this is also a timely reminder to be extra cautious and aware of fires in the summer – as they’re easier to start when the temperature is warmer. Having said this, by the location of this one, it looks like it was man-made, and was hopefully an accident rather than an act of arson. As of right now, this is all we know, but we shall do another update when further information becomes available.
