NASCAR drink prices SHOCK Chicago locals
This past weekend, NASCAR was in town and as ever, the race was performed in front of a full house. For the most part, the event went down well with locals but there was one thing that really annoyed them. This was the price of drinks.
As seen in the picture below, someone photographed the prices and these were not at all cheap. In fact, they were quite the opposite. For a Busch Light it cost $10.50 and for a Michelob Light it cost the same price. The only other drinking option was a Dasani water that cost $3.95. Aside from this, you could buy a six-pack of the aforementioned beers for $63…which represents a saving of $0. Understandably, this went down like a lead balloon.
Not only this – but NASCAR tickets start at $269, so it’s not exactly a cheap day out. Having said this, it turns out that NASCAR isn’t to blame. So, before you get your pitchforks out – please don’t attack NASCAR just yet.
At most NASCAR events, they have a ‘bring your own beer’ policy which also includes food. In this day and age, that stance is actually quite admirable for a big company. However, in recent years, the city of Chicago banned most concessions and started taking a cut from ticket and alcohol sales. This was supposedly the work of ex-mayor Lori Lightfoot.
Beneath the chaos this caused, one local spotted this and said, “I’m pretty sure expert master negotiator Lori Lightfoot booted away most of the city’s concession play.” As ever, it’s the working people of Chicago who lose out. However, it looks as though this will be the normal scenario for future NASCAR and similar events in Chicago for the future.
