This week saw an interesting development take place opposite the famous Powell’s bookstore in Burnside. Shared on social media, the photo showed the makings of a new Shake Shack venue. So far, there are only a couple of Shake Shacks in the Portland area which are both a few years old. For instance, one of the others is in Beaverton which is in a much less desirable location.

It goes without saying that this new location has a lot of potential as it’s in the direct heart of the Portland tourist area. As one person commented, “This will print money” – and, even though you’d expect rent to be quite high, it’s probably well worth it in terms of footfall.

Previously, this location was used as an electronics store back in the 90s, and more recently it was a vitamins shop. Undoubtedly then, it has a lot of potential and despite being a chain restaurant, Shake Shack has a solid reputation for offering delicious milkshakes and burgers. As you could imagine, this could well be a money printing machine during the hot summer months.

As seen, this venue is still in development though and it may be a few months until it is open to the public. Until then, watch this space.
