Night of crazy lightning leads to STUNNING photo of Portland City skyline
Last night saw some pretty crazy weather, even by Portland’s fairly volatile standards. This is because there was a literal thunderstorm that engulfed the city skyline for hours. And, whilst PDX locals are familiar with consistent rainfall, this offered something a little different.
As seen, this photo was taken from the suburbs and you can also spot the city center in the distance. Beyond this, sits a beautiful sunset to the right, with some electric lightning over the left. According to meteorologists, thunderstorms need warm and moist to occur – which may explain why they rarely happen due to the typical Portland climate.
So, even though summer is well on its way and temperatures have picked up lately, it’s still typical Portland to throw in something random like a thunderstorm. Based on this, it really wouldn’t be too surprising to see some kind of blizzard in July or something which would sum up the weather around here!
