Oaklanders can’t BELIEVE the cost of this meal – And you won’t either
While Oakland may not be the most expensive city in the state, this meal price was deemed ‘extremely expensive’ for what it actually was. Uploaded onto social media, the below image shows two chicken skewers, cauliflower, and a bar of chocolate that was purchased from Market Hall. Now, before we reveal the price, you should make up a guestimate.
It turns out that this cost a total of $34. Speaking on the purchase, the customer wrote, “I think Market Hall in Oakland might be one of the most expensive places I’ve ever been. I should have read the labels closer.”
As you can see, that doesn’t really look justifiable for $15, let alone $34 and shows the prices of certain foods these days. In fairness, the chocolate was the Dick Taylor brand which is infamously expensive. But even still, the rest of the meal isn’t exactly cheap either. This prompted one comment that read: “You could have bought a burger and mozzarella sticks at that rock and roll burger truck for that price. I don’t know who can afford this stuff, but $8 for cauliflower gives me a lot of anxiety. And it’s not even a whole head.”
This should serve as a cautionary tale to always read food prices before buying them. Usually, when the prices are obscured, it’s a good measurement to assume it means they’re expensive. On a separate note, it does also make you wonder who on earth is eating at places like this.
