PGA Superstore opening in Raleigh in early August
Today, a sign went up on previously dormant retail space which announced that Raleigh would be having a new PGA Superstore arriving on the first Saturday in August. This was the spot next to the UNC Urgent Care near Wegman’s.
Although those who aren’t into golf won’t care too much for this announcement, it at least shows that retail space is still alive and it’s better than nothing occupying the space. As you’d expect, this store will sell golf equipment which doesn’t sound like a bad business idea either – seeing as North Carolina literally has hundreds of golf courses and a large golfing community.
As ever, not everyone was happy about this – which was especially the case as the PGA recently did a merger with Saudi Arabia’s LIV golf association. One Raleigh resident wrote this on social media, “I’m sure the Saudis will be pleased they can sell more than oil to us. Boycott the PGA.” Overall, this tone seemed a bit much considering it was a reaction to a PGA store opening in Raleigh, but then again social media has often created some intense push back for even the most mundane of things.
Not everyone saw it this way, with a local golfer looking forward to the opening who claimed, “Finally, a PGA super store in the area. They have a great selection of golf stuff. I’m excited to finally have one. It’s also pretty cheap to rent a bay out and golf there when it rains. As a avid golfer, I’m pumped.”
As mentioned, although it’s not the most exciting opening ever, it will still bring jobs and money to the area which cannot be a bad thing. For Raleigh’s golfers, they’ll have to wait until early August to check out the merchandise though.
