Portland Timbers Eryk Williamson Knee Surgery Is Successful
Portland Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson went through a successful medical procedure on Wednesday to repair the torn ACL on his right knee. This is just a couple of years since Williamson had the exact same problem on his left knee. An injury which often plagues soccer players, tearing the ACL often comes from changing direction at a very rapid pace.
Specialist Dr Richard Edelson carried out the surgery, which will sideline Williamson beyond the end of the season. He is supposed to return within nine months, although it is well known that ACL tears require extensive rehabilitation.
In 6 career MLS seasons, with Portland, Williamson has score four goals and provided 17 assists in 70 games.
Timbers general manager said “”Eryk is an extremely important component within the team who was performing at a high level again, making it difficult news to accept. We will support Eryk both on and off the field during his recovery process, and we are confident that he will make a full recovery in reestablishing himself within the team again next season.”
