In an unprecedented walkout, today is the day that will see up to 1800 nurses walk out from Portland hospitals. The dispute is not really centered around a single issue, but moreso around pay, working conditions and being overworked in general.

To combat the strike, Providence has bought in nursing staff from an agency until a deal can be realized between the two parties.

After the hashtag “#profitence” started making the rounds on social media platforms. It seems someone has taken this a step further and decided to add their own artwork to a Providence advertisement in the city of Portland.

The line “community health for all” has a black line through it and has been replaced with the line “except our workers”.

An edited online image shows the opinion of many angry Portland residents. If this had been real life vandalism it would have to be pre-planned. The bottom of the sign is around 8-10 feet from the ground which means that even professional NBA players wouldn’t have been able to reach the text. Furthermore, the written text is around 10 feet wide in real terms, meaning you would likely need industrial equipment and a good 15-20 minutes in order to not be seen.

Other locals were quick to point the finger at higher ups in the company. Currently, there are 8 employees who earn over $2 million salaries per year, as well as many others which exceed $1 million (not shown in list).

Many others were also surprised and angry to find out that Providence is a non-profit health care company.
