Rare Throwback Video shows VHS recording of Portland in 1980s
These days, Portland has a lot of talking points in terms of where it’s at socially, as well as where it’s going. However, for better or for worse – we’ve found a rare throwback VHS video of Portland from the 1980s. Precisely, this was filmed back in 1986 and is a 30 minute video tour of the ‘Rose City’ which features landmark locations and attractions such as Chinatown, the Washington Park Zoo, and The Portland Trailblazers amongst others.
It also features a lot of places that have since been lost in time. In fact, after watching this video you can understand why Portland became such a cultural hub during the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It really did have it all during that point and even aesthetically, it looked like a really nice, friendly, and vibrant place. By this, we specifically mean the beautiful surrounding nature, thriving business-scene, and solid work-life-balance that was present in Portland at the time.
Overall, this is a really nostalgic look back towards previous times and may make you happy or sad. It also possibly gives you hope that Portland has a bright future ahead, as like its past – times can change. So, despite a lot of recent cynicism and skepticism surrounding current-day life in Portland – times can change for better or worse.
