SHOCK as insider teacher leaks ‘worrying’ books banned from Duval County schools
Historically, its often viewed as an oppressive act to ban literature and books. This is why this teacher decided to leak a screenshot of books that Duval County Public Schools had recently decided to ban from their students.
Typically, you may think that explicit or highly inappropriate material would be banned from kids which is understandable. However, some of these books ranged from harmless anime classics, to epic novels. In short, the insider teacher who leaked the books has a point, and this begs the question as to why these have been banned.
As seen in the screenshot above, various books are captioned ‘Denied’ which means they can no longer be viewed by students. These include fan favorites such as One Piece (which is an anime book, much like Dragon Ball) and the literary classic, Oedipus which is a legendary Greek tale.
The Jacksonville insider who originally leaked these wrote, “I’m an employee of Dcps. This is the system we use to submit books for review. It’s only accessible when using the school internet.” and understandably, this move created some heated responses with many blaming the Republican party for the ban and claiming it was oppressive.
Since finding this information, we have contacted the Dcps for a comment but so far we have not heard anything back – and it would be interesting to hear their justification as to why certain books have been banned.
I would bet money that they will investigate toe person who leaked this and there will be repercussions for it. DCPS has been known to discipline teachers for anything possible and let big things go.
