St Louis restaurant The Sliced Pint finally closes its doors for good
After being ‘temporarily closed’ for what seems like an eternity, one of St Louis’s most beloved restaurants has now shut its doors for good. Specifically, we’re talking about The Sliced Pint which was located at Washington Ave and had been a permanent fixture in the St Louis food scene since 2016. Like many food venues though, it hasn’t passed the test of time and is now gone.
According to locals, The Sliced Pint first struggled due to the Covid lockdowns which undeniably put a pressure on various businesses – with restaurants amongst some of those affected the most. Since, then it’s been a couple of years of struggle, but the joint has finally admitted defeat.
The first sign of distress came back in February when they changed their opening hours, then in March they claimed to be temporarily closed. However, since March they never re-opened and didn’t update their social media presence. Today, one local visited the site and claimed it had a large ‘Closed’ sign on the outside, which was a clear change from the previously ‘Temporarily closed’ sign that was there for the previous months.
After bursting onto the scene in 2016, The Sliced Pint made a name for itself by offering fresh pizza and pints of beer which is where its name came from. However, some locals weren’t particularly happy about its offerings, claiming that the eatery had dipped in quality since its early days. Nonetheless, it’s always sad to see a local business close, which prompted St Louis, MO residents to say “RIP. Hope the employees can catch on somewhere else.” With this in mind, hopefully another restaurant quickly replaces it and breathes fresh life into the St Louis food scene.
