SW Portland home offers FREE rent – However, it comes with a BIG catch

May 25, 2023 by 7 Comments

In recent years, rent has risen massively in Portland. This isn’t exclusive to PDX either, as the same phenomenon has happened nationwide. However, in a shock twist, there is an available house in SW Portland (West Hills) that is available for free. In other words, there is not a single cent to be paid on this property – and aside from food, that’s all you’d be expected to buy. As the advert puts it, “I cover the rent, utilities and hi-speed internet. I also pay a monthly stipend.”

So, it sounds too good to be true, but is it? As mentioned, this advert comes with a pretty big catch. Also mentioned in the advert is this: “I’m looking to find someone willing to help me 3 days a week as an assistant/caregiver. I’m a 40-year-old male quadriplegic. I work full-time from home and don’t need major assistance or constant care.”

In other words, you’d have to effectively work 3 days per week as a caregiver. Obviously, this isn’t for everyone and it really depends on how you value your time. Nonetheless, if you have a flexible schedule and you’re a student or are semi-retired then it could be a good gig.

As seen, the house is well furnished and looks incredibly tidy. However, being a carer is a pretty demanding job at times, so understandably – this would not be for everyone. For those interested though, it does sound quite interesting and has “a loft overlooking the main floor, a large bedroom, bath/shower and a large walk-in closet – all very private. The occupant shares the main floor of the home with me. The main floor has a living room, full kitchen, laundry room and 2 more bathrooms plus my suite.”

If you’re intrigued then check out the original advert here.

Hi. I have extensive, well-rounded caregiving experience and have been of service to a quad man before. Providing assistance with ADL’s, transfers, bathing, skin care, personal assistance support (running errands, shopping, etc), preparing delicious, healthy meals, and pretty much anything else you might require. If the opportunity is still open I’d be happy to discuss it further. Thanks, Anna Taylor
