The Cocktail Diaries: Homemade Mountain Dew Vodka Special
Mountain Dew is a soft beverage that is enjoyed by many kids across America. However, what about an adult twist on an old classic? Yesterday I decided to make a Mountain Dew-Vodka cocktail. The result was that it was surprisingly yummy and would go down a treat on a hot summer’s afternoon!
Of course, Mountain Dew is not for everyone and although it’s a guilty pleasure of mine, I don’t really drink it too often due to its unhealthy nature. Nonetheless, everyone deserves the odd treat and as this week was dragging, I decided to let my creative juices flow and combine Mountain Dew with vodka. Why not?!
Firstly, I chose to opt for the original, green Mountain Dew. However, everyone is different and I’m sure people will use stuff like Code Red and other variations. Ultimately, it’s up to you. The beauty of this recipe is that it’s incredibly simple. You literally add a shot of vodka into a cup of mountain dew, stir then add in ice.
If you wanted to get more scientific, you could add slightly less or more vodka. It’s your call. However, I played it safe and didn’t want to get too wasted on Mountain Dew. Remember, it does go down pretty easily as well which is something to watch out for. You could say this was a homage to Portland and it’s many mountains, so like a true Portland gal I was merely doing my duty for my state!
