Throwback To The Bizarre Portland Parakeet Race & The Infamous “Tyler”
It’s not known whether the annual Portland parakeet race will take place this August, but what we do know is that Arnold (the parakeet with the facial deformity) has managed to win for the past 5 years.
Taking place in the Wilsonville Safeway parking lot, young children are not allowed at the event. At the annual event in this particular year, you can see the prize for beating Arnold was a 2 month supply of Oxiclean (although nobody can beat him). In past years, the prize has been a lightly used blender. Who knows what is in store for the 2023 race?
Of course, much like every year, there will be complimentary tortellin provided for all participants. This is one of the only perks for taking part in the parakeet race.
As usual Tyler will be banned, with instructions to call immediately if sighted.
We will make another article in early August confirming whether or not the annual parakeet race will be taking place this year. For those wondering, a plain parakeet lives for around 10-15 years, where as a monk parakeet can live up to 30. So it looks like Arnold will be competing for a long time yet!
